Student Affairs

Welcome from the Vice President

Stacey Morgan Foster, J.D. - Vice President for Student AffairsWe welcome you to our university, a learning community of uniquely talented individual students like yourself. We look forward to you becoming an active, contributing member of this community. By doing so, you can better take advantage of all the different types of learning opportunities available to you and help to assure your own success.

A university education involves mastery of both general and specific knowledge. You will succeed in your higher education if you master not only the knowledge in your academic courses, but also the tools of learning, the skills required to succeed in a variety of employment settings, and the commitment to lead an enriched life that is also enriching for those you touch. To accomplish this task, you must be willing to challenge yourself, to confront the unknown and to go beyond your "comfort zone."

You must become an active and engaged participant in your education, not just a passive observer. Participate in class. Become involved in professional, academic, social, recreational and community opportunities. These are all opportunities to learn, to apply your learning, and to develop the skills for a life of success.

As a new member of this learning community, it is very important to understand what we have to offer you, what this community expects of you, and what you should expect of your new environment. That is why we offer our orientation program. It is a time not only to learn the route to class, the places to eat, and the pace of the university, but also your obligations and your rights. It is a time to reflect on your immediate future and to consider how best to adapt and take advantage of your surroundings.

Each of you brings a diversity of talents, traits and history to our community. We welcome you and ask that you recognize and respect that uniqueness in yourself and in each of your fellow students.

-Stacey Morgan Foster, J.D.
