Library Faculty Elected
Published: June 22, 2011
CHENEY, Wash. - Two Eastern Washington University library faculty members have been elected to leadership positions in national professional organizations.
Carolynne Myall, head of the Collection Services division of EWU Libraries, is incoming president-elect of the Association for Library Collections & Technical Services (ALCTS), a division of the American Library Association.
The purpose of ALCTS is to develop and coordinate library resources in the U.S., focusing on issues related to the selection, identification, acquisition, organization, management, retrieval and preservation of recorded knowledge. ALCTS recognizes innovation and professional achievement through awards in these areas of librarianship. Its publications include the quarterly journal Library Resources & Technical Services and the series ALCTS Papers on Library Technical Services and Collections.
Jonathan Potter, library reference and instruction liaison to the Allied Health programs at EWU, is incoming chair-elect of the Nursing and Allied Health Resources Section (NAHRS) of the Medical Library Association. NAHRS is devoted to insuring excellence in library information services for nurses and allied health professionals. Current NAHRS activities include mapping the literature of Allied Health, a collaborative research project to improve information transfer and encourage knowledge-base development within the various allied health fields.
"The EWU Library faculty is very proud of these colleagues' accomplishments at the national level of their respective professional organizations," said Ted Otto, PhD, faculty chair at EWU Libraries. "Both are making significant contributions to associations dedicated to the management and dissemination of information used by students and professionals alike."
Both of these positions require a three-year commitment of service. For more information about EWU Libraries, please visit www.ewu.edu/library or contact the Office of the Dean of Libraries at 509.359.2264.
