Student Research Showcased

The event showcases projects completed by undergraduate and graduate students after months of preparation with their faculty mentors. This year, there are almost 175 faculty members involved with the event. The symposium gives participants the chance to present their research - via writing, oral/poster presentation or artistic display - in a formal, professional setting.
The creative juices start flowing Tuesday evening:
Day 1, Creative Works:
Time: 4:30-9:10 p.m.
Location: Fine Arts Complex
Details: Registration desk opens at 4:30 p.m. in the Art Building entrance; appetizers will be served in the foyer from 4:30-8 p.m.; presentation sessions will include art and visual communication design displays, music with film, music composition, theatre and creative writing.
Day 2, Research:
Welcoming reception:
Time: 8-9 a.m.
Location: Hargreaves Hall, Room 201
Keynote Address: The Struggle for Research Success: Pushing the Rock of Sisyphus, Professor Grant Forsyth, EWU Department of Economics
Details: EWU President Rodolfo Arévalo will deliver opening comments; this aspect of the symposium is meant to celebrate the academic achievements of symposium presenters and all of the students and faculty who participate in the event.
Oral and Poster Research Presentations:
Time: 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
Location: Senior Hall
Details: Presentations will take place on all three floors of Senior Hall; registration desk opens at 8:30 a.m. in Senior Hall entrance; there will be information tables in the lobby and 2nd floor lounge providing information about Academic Service Learning, National Conference on Undergraduate Research, Human Powered Paper Vehicle (HPPV) Competition, Graduate Studies, McNair Scholars Program and EWU Libraries; sessions will feature presentations from a wide variety of academic disciplines across campus including psychology, biology, chemistry and biochemistry, sociology, philosophy, women's and genders studies, engineering and design, physical therapy, occupational therapy, English, physical education/health/recreation and anthropology.
