    The Department of Art provides programs leading to the following degrees: Bachelor of Fine Arts, Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Arts in Education, Major in Art

  • Asia University America Program

    The Asia University America Program at Eastern Washington University, a unique component of Asia University, Tokyo, Japan, provides students with an opportunity to participate in an innovative study abroad program.

  • Creative Writing

    Students may obtain a Master of Fine Arts degree in Creative Writing or a Bachelor of Arts degree in English with a Creative Writing major. The program offers writing workshops, literary studies, and form and theory courses in poetry, fiction, and creative non-fiction.

  • Education

    "I touch the future. I teach." - Christa McAuliffe Our mission is to prepare student-centered teachers and leaders who are caring, effective, informed, reflective graduates who successfully engage all learners in diverse schools, communities and global contexts.

  • English

    Our English degrees provide students with a strong background in critical analysis, the structure of language, and literary history before they begin specific career preparation in their selected programs.

  • Film

    Our intensive horizontally and vertically integrated program of screenwriting, production and theory/criticism prepares students for creative roles in the film and television industry.

  • Humanities

    The humanities are more than one thing; they include many ways of expressing and understanding human values. Thus, the Humanities Program is designed for innovative, integrative, and interdisciplinary study - including some of the sciences and many of the social sciences.

  • Journalism

    Journalism is an essential part of American life and culture, which makes journalists among the most influential people in our society. Journalists are in the unique position of interpreting the political, social, economic, cultural and everyday events that affect all members of society, influencing the choices we each make.

  • Modern Languages & Literatures

    Language is one of the foundations of ethnic and cultural diversity, and the study of languages and cultures is one of the hallmarks of an educated person.

  • Music

    The Music program at EWU is committed to students who seek careers in music as well as to providing music instruction and experience for the general university student. Graduates are prepared to become performers, composers, conductors, theorists, teachers or scholars.

  • Philosophy

    The philosophy program at Eastern offers a set of introductory courses that figure prominently in general education requirements, under-gird the more advanced courses, and address some of the haunting why questions we carry with us from childhood, when we were all philosophizing.

  • Physical Education, Health and Recreation

    The Department of Physical Education, Health and Recreation is committed to enhancing quality of life through the promotion of wellness. Our mission is accomplished by educating students who are professionally and academically prepared and dedicated to addressing the wellness of a diverse society in a variety of environments.

  • Religious Studies

    This minor is designed for those students majoring in an allied discipline and preparing for graduate seminary study, or for students majoring in any other discipline but wishing to pursue the subject of religion for its importance in other fields.

  • Theatre

    The Theatre Program offers: The Bachelor of Arts in Theatre, for those who wish to enter the profession or for those who wish to prepare for graduate school; and the Bachelor of Arts in Education, with a major in Theatre, for those who wish to teach grades 4-12. Minors are available in both degree programs.
