Dr. Barbara Loste
Lecturer - SpanishCheney Hall 209EPhone: (509) 359-6938Email: bloste@ewu.eduBarbara Loste holds a B.A. in Art from Immaculate Heart College, Los Angeles, an M.A. in Communications/Latin American Studies from the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) in Mexico City. In 2000, she completed a Ph.D. in Leadership Studies at Gonzaga University, Spokane.
At EWU, Barbara Loste has taught beginning and intermediate Spanish and Introduction to Hispanic/Latino Literature. She functions as a team leader for EWU’s Advanced Languages Program in the high schools. Previously, Barbara directed 1492: An Ongoing Voyage, a bilingual exhibition at the Library of Congress, and was a consultant with the USDA Forest Service for development projects Central America and the Caribbean. She has lived and worked throughout Latin America, has traveled in Spain, and enjoys exploring cultural diversity with her students.
In her free time, Barbara likes to paint, garden, travel, and watch films. She volunteers with the Spokane Arts Commission, the Museum of Arts and Culture, and Hermanas Spokane, a non-profit organization that supports rural women and their families in El Salvador.
