Eisenhower Fellowships in Tribal Transportation at Eastern Washington University
The US Department of Transportation (DOT) has created special programs to support research in transportation and to promote students who pursue degrees in engineering, planning and transportation related disciplines. EWU has successfully participated in Eisenhower Tribal Transportation Fellowships, with students receiving up to $10,000 each for work on research projects and presentation of their research at the national conference of the Transportation Research Board each January in Washington, DC.

The Dwight David Eisenhower Transportation Fellowships Program accepts applications to participating institutions (EWU is a participating institution, and we invite all eligible candidates to apply through our project coordinator, Dr. Dick Winchell.

Our EWU application process is outlined on the next page. Students must contact Dr. Winchell or an interested EWU faculty who will serve as your faculty advisor, and develop a research project in conjunction with that faculty.
Our EWU Eisenhower Fellows have been successful in research presentations at the National Conference in Washington, DC, and students are recognized by an awards reception at that event (see photos above). Descriptions of student research projects are also listed on this website.
