Leader's Training Course

College sophomores, start thinking about attending theLeader's Training Course (LTC) next summer---a paid 28-day leadership internship like no other at Fort Knox, Ky.

LTC allows students to:

  • Examine the Army and the military officer profession before deciding to contract into the EWU Army ROTC
  • Qualify for entry into Army ROTC Advanced Course beginning their junior year (ideally two years will remain to complete your undergraduate or graduate degree), if they did not take ROTC as a freshman and sophomore
  • Qualify for an Army ROTC two- or two-and-a-half year scholarship, through successfully completing LTC
  • Qualify for a $5,000 bonus upon contracting

What is it like?

During LTC, the Army observes you and determines your officer potential in a leadership oriented, challenging, and motivating 28-day training program. You will rappel, solve complex military problems in small teams, participate in obstacle courses, fire rifles, meet other highly motivated college students from across the nation, and learn more about yourself than you could imagine.

LTC is not Army Basic Training or "Boot Camp." It is an opportunity for you to evaluate whether the Army is appropriate for you and for the Army to evaluate your potential to become an Army officer.

Students are paid for their travel to and from Fort Knox, Ky., and receive a stipend of $1,000, in addition to free room and board.

How do I go?
