Office of Field Education and Training
Welcome to Eastern Washington University's School of Social Work Field Practicum.
Field Practicum is an educationally directed internship experience and a central part of the bachelors and masters program. The internship components of the bachelors and masters program provide opportunities for students to work with experienced bachelors and masters level social workers in a wide variety of social service agencies.
The office of field utilizes a partnership among students, agency-based field instructors and faculty field instructors. Students actively participate in identifying specific fields of practice and are interviewed for readiness to enter their practicum.
While student interns contribute to significant amount of service to the community agencies, the focus of the practicum is to integrate theory learned in the classroom to practicum experience within agencies. Students are expected to focus on objectives that direct activities to synthesize social work knowledge, values and skills.
