  • Biology

    Welcome to the Department of Biology's Homepage! A degree in Biology is the first step into finding a career in one of hundreds of growing fields in health sciences, biotechnology and environmental sciences; in government agencies concerned with resource management, environmental quality and medical research; and in educational institutions as teachers and laboratory technicians.

  • Chemistry and Biochemistry

    Chemistry occupies a unique position within the modern sciences. Ultimately, most of the phenomena in the biological, geological, physical, environmental and medical sciences can be expressed in terms of the chemical and physical behavior of atoms and molecules.

  • Communication Disorders

    Professional practice in Communication Disorders involves working with people who have impairments and disabilities of speech, language and hearing.

  • Computer Science

    Welcome to the Computer Science Department Homepage! We're glad you've decided to stop by, and you really should visit in person sometime! Our department is friendly and attentive to students' needs, and there are students, staff, and faculty to get to know. The department encourages collaboration among students and faculty in technology-transfer development and research. You can pursue the study of computer science in a collegial environment, among other like-minded individuals, sharing creativity and insights in a way impossible outside of this environment.

  • Dental Hygiene

    Eastern's Dental Hygiene Program is the only entry-level bachelor's degree program in the state of Washington. In fact, less than 15 percent of the dental hygiene programs in the United States offer this degree. This means that our graduates can pursue dental health careers that may be closed to people with dental hygiene certificates or associate degrees.

  • Design

    A major in Visual Communication Design educates and prepares students to conceive and create creative solutions to satisfy the visual communication needs of society. Graduates are prepared for careers in graphic design, Web design, multimedia design, advertising, printing, publishing, or related fields

  • Engineering

    The goal of the Department of Engineering & Design is to provide students the technical background required for careers in business, industry, or education. The department offers degrees in several fields of study ranging from the hands-on technological applications employed in programs such as Mechanical Engineering Technology to the conceptual elements of our new Electrical Engineering program.

  • Environmental Science

    The Environmental Science program offers a practical, technically based, cross-disciplinary program centered on biology, chemistry and geology. The program integrates classroom work with extensive field, lab and research experience and allows students opportunities to interact with working environmental professionals. All students take an identical core of Environmental Science courses complemented by a concentration in one of the three core sciences.

  • Geology

    Geology is the science of planet Earth. Geologists use elements of chemistry, physics, biology and mathematics in interpreting the evolution of the earth and its life forms. Applied geology addresses exploitation of earth resources, environmental quality and hazards and practical understanding of the planet on which we live.

  • Mathematics

    A degree in mathematics is the key to a successful career in one of many diverse fields in growing demand of skilled mathematicians. Whether your goal is to become an elementary, secondary or college level mathematics teacher or you wish to pursue a career as an actuary, consultant or another exciting career in industry or government, we have a degree program to fit your needs.

  • Natural Science

    Natural science is an area of emphasis under the Elementary Education Program. Successful completion of the natural science major along with a minor and the education coursework will qualify the student for a middle-level science endorsement (4th-9th grade). The natural science minor does not result in endorsement but is suited for a science specialist in grades kindergarten through 6th. Much of the required coursework is taught through inquiry pedagogy and spans six areas of science: astronomy, chemistry, earth science, life science, physics and space science.

  • Nursing

    University nursing programs are taught at the WSU College of Nursing in Spokane. The college of nursing is shared by three institutions of higher education: Eastern Washington University, Washington State University and Whitworth University. This cooperative baccalaureate program is the first of its kind among colleges and universities in the United States. The nature of the consortium encourages an environment supportive of individual differences in students, faculty and institutional emphases; broadens the resources available to the college of nursing; and provides a diversity of student backgrounds and experiences which stimulate and enhance learning.

  • Occupational Therapy

    Occupational Therapy (OT) is a health and rehabilitation profession that helps people of all ages to participate more fully in their day-to-day lives. Occupational therapist assist persons who are experiencing a physical, cognitive or emotional impairment.

  • Physical Therapy

    Demand for physical therapists is high across the United States. Our Doctor of Physical Therapy graduates are well qualified, highly sought after and have a 100 percent pass rate on the National Licensure exam.

  • Physics

    Physics is the study of the physical environment and the laws governing the behavior of particles, fields and space/time. More specifically, physicists study mechanics, heat, light, electric and magnetic fields, gravitation, relativity, atomic and nuclear physics, solid state physics and many other topics. In general, physics strives for a mathematical description of the laws of nature at the most fundamental level and is therefore the most mathematical of the basic sciences.

  • Regional Initiatives in Dental Education

    RIDE is an outgrowth of the University of Washington School of Dentistry's (UWSOD) mission to take a leadership role in improving the health and well-being of the people of the community and the region through outreach programs that are especially attentive to minority and underserved populations.

  • Veterans Electrical Engineering Initiative

    Veterans will progress through the full electrical engineering curriculum, focused initially on foundational knowledge in calculus and physics, leading to the heart of the degree program to be completed by summer 2015.
