John Fair
Outdoor Program DirectorIn my younger days, I spent a decade as a wilderness trip leader with youth-at-risk, rock climbing instructor and whitewater raft guide. After finishing my B.A. in Outdoor Recreation and a M.Ed. in Adult Education, I became the director of EPIC Adventures. I am a rock climbing instructor with the Professional Climbing Instructors Association (PCIA) and a wilderness medicine instructor with Wilderness Medicine Training Center (WMTC). I am a current Wilderness-EMT, a former ACA Raft Guide Instructor, and I do independent work as a risk management consultant.

Kevin Klim
Climbing Wall Manager, Field SupervisorKevin has been the Climbing Wall Manager since the gym originally opened in 2008. When he isn't busy teaching classes, serving the students of EWU or spending time with his wonderful wife and son, Kevin tries to find time to get outside and enjoy a route or two.Dustin Semb

Dexter Bellings
Climbing Wall InstructorI am an outdoor recreation major. Born and raised in Spokane. I have been rock climbing for almost two years now. I use the gym in the off season to get strong but my passion for rock climbing lies outside on real rock. Originally introduced to the sport at minnehaha, I gave up mountain biking and became a sport climber. I have spent the last year learning everything I can about climbing, and plan to do alpine climbs over the summer. My other job involves leading trips for Epic where I am also a raft guide. Some of my other hobbies include Sports, Mt. biking, Skiing backwards, Extreme photography, and Grocery shopping!
Becky Harris
Climbing Wall InstructorHi, I'm Becky. I'm majoring in Recreation Management here at EWU and really just love to be outdoors. I'm a Junior now and started climbing about 2 years ago. It's pretty awesome and I hope to see some of you guys on some EPIC trips or at the wall!
Kyle Jennings
Climbing Wall InstructorI have been climbing for about a year, and have become addicted to it. I started climbing after I broke a bunch of bones (12) and decided that contact sports were going to kill me. It was the best decision I ever made. In January of 2010 I won first place in the beginner section of the Climbtastic Voyage. Something I am very proud of. Now, I have taken to the outdoors and become addicted to heights.
Annie Parsons
Climbing Wall InstructorFor as long as I can remember I have loved to play outside. After climbing Mount Saint Helens in 2008, I developed this weird obsession to climb things just to see what I could see. When I moved to Eastern a year later, I discovered the climbing wall. Ever since then I have been climbing indoors as well as outdoors and even took an amazing trip up to Banff, Canada to give ice climbing a try. I look forward to the dark days of winter to be upon us for I know that it means somewhere, waterfalls are freezing over and waiting for me to shove a pick in it.Shane Prostor
Climbing Wall InstructorI am an Education major and have been an avid climber for about two years now. I take the opportunity to climb as much as possible whether it is bouldering, sport climbing or trad climbing. Rock climbing has quickly become a very big passion of mine and I am always looking for new routes to climb and new climbing experiences. Recently I have been trying to focus on becoming a stronger sport climber as well as getting as much trad and multi pitch climbing experience as I can. My other obsessions besides climbing include slacklining, snowboarding, hiking, playing the harmonica and walking my dog.
Devin Sontag
Academic Class InstructorI'm the really tall guy that you'll see in the gym teaching classes. Climbing is a small passion of mine, and helps to occupy my time when I'm not working on my Master's degree in Biology.I started climbing indoors at a small gym in the Tri-Cities. Sure enough, I ended up working there, and when I transferred up to EWU, I got a job as a wall employee shortly after the gym opened. I've climbed hard stuff, easy stuff, climbed with family, climbed competitively, and reached a conclusion. Climbing is fun, a good workout, and a great way to spend time with cool people. Hope to see you in the gym or outside on rock!

Zach Turner
Climbing Wall InstructorI started climbing around the age of 13 at our local gym "Wild Walls". After about two years of gym climbing I joined the Spokane Mountaineers and participated in a number of classes including mountain school, anchors, lead climbing and ice climbing. This group has given me a knowledge basis to get out into the mountains, where I will continue to pursue my passion for alpine climbing. I'm the youngest of the staff and you can probably find me at EWU's gym or local crags where I procrastinate from doing homework.

Joe Anderson
Climbing Wall InstructorI have been climbing on stuff ever since I was a kid. Whether it was a tree or my uncle, I would find a way to get up it. Over the past few years I have really gotten into the sport of rock climbing and have been to places like Leavenworth and Vantage. Have fun and get out and climb!
