The library faculty and staff shall make a reasonable effort to provide assistance to disabled students as needed to assure equal access to the libraries' resources and services.
Retrieving Materials at JFK Library
Come to any of the service desks: the Reference Desk or the Circulation Desk on the Main Level, or the Lower Level Service Desk on the Lower Level, for assistance in pulling items.
Assistive Technology
All of the Microsoft Office computers in the library have assistive technology software available. For a complete listing of what software and equipment is available, please see our Assistive Technology Resources Guide.
The library has laptops that have some accessibility software loaded onto them. Students can check out the laptops from the Lower Level Services Desk in the JFK Library.
The library also has a universal access scanner located on the Lower Level. Materials may be scanned to your NetStorage account or sent to a printer.
Assistive Technology Study Room
The Assistive Technology Room is located on the main level of the JFK Library (M03). It is equipped with an ergonomic chair, large screen monitor, ergonomic keyboard and mouse, headphones, a telephone, scanner, and adjustalbe height table. The computer in the Assistive Technology Room is equipped with specific accessibility software to assist patrons who have audio, visual, physical and related impairments. It is available for reservation and check out to current EWU students, faculty or staff. To check out this room, bring your EWU I.D. to the Circulation Desk. The Assistive Technology Room will circulate for a two hour period with the possibility of one renewal (an additional two hours) if no one else is waiting to use the room. For more information, please refer to our Assistive Technology Resources Guide or our Guidelines document.
Photocopying
You may ask for assistance at the service desk next to the photocopiers on the Main Level.
