Freshman FAQs
We know you have a ton of questions. Here are the ones we hear most ...
Can I still apply for the fall quarter after the Feb. 15 priority deadline?
Yes! You can apply for admission until Eastern closes the application window in the summer. In fact, you can start your application right now.
Should I apply to more than one school?
This is a personal decision, but a good strategy can be to apply to your top three to five schools by their priority deadlines. A lot can change in a year, and it is always a good strategy to have a backup plan.
How many classes/credits will I take to be considered a full time student?
We consider 12-18 credits per quarter full time. This will typically mean three-four classes per quarter. Freshmen average 15 credits per quarter.
Do you consider AP, Honors, IB classes in your admissions decisions?
When students meet the CADRs and have a GPA of 3.3 or above, we generally don't consider these classes. When a student is holistically reviewed (that is, they have less than a 3.3 GPA or are missing part of the CADRs) class schedule and grade trends are considered. Completing difficult courses is seen as a positive factor in Admissions decisions.
Are there additional requirements for student athletes?
For the purposes of admission, as a student athlete, you will not have additional requirements. However, you must be eligible to participate in NCAA athletics and must meet the NCAA Clearinghouse requirements.
How do I get international academic credentials evaluated?
If you are a domestic student with international academic credentials (coursework from a non-English speaking country), you will need to have your credits translated and evaluated by one of the institutions approved by the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services. Once the credentials are evaluated, please send them to the Office of Admission for review.
What should I say in my Insight Resume?
The Insight Resume helps the Office of Admissions better understand your contributions, qualifications and talents as a student beyond test scores and high school grades. You should share your experience(s) in the following categories: leadership and group contributions, knowledge in a field/creativity, dealing with adversity, community service, handling systemic challenges, and goals/task commitment. You should write what is most meaningful to you. Do not write what you assume we want to hear. We are interested in reading what is reflective of you as a person.

How long does it take to review my application for admission?
The Office of Admissions will begin reviewing your application for admission when we recieve all of your application materials including the application fee, official high school transcripts and test scores. Our review process takes 14 days on average.
