Darwin Day Seminar and Celebration
Dr. Daniel Promislow, Department of Pathology, University of Washington, will be giving a seminar entitled "The Evolution of Aging, or (why) Things Fall Apart."
As is tradition, immediately following the seminar will be a party celebrating Charles Darwin, at which the Darwin cake competition is held. The party will be held in Science 247. All are encouraged to attend. Please contact Dr. Joyner-Matos (firstname.lastname@example.org) if you would like further information about the seminar and/or party or would like to enter the cake competition.
Dr. Promislow is a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science and on the Editorial Board of the Proceedings of the Royal Society. He recently joined the faculty of the University of Washington Medical School faculty after serving as a faculty member in the Department of Genetics at the University of Georgia from 1995 - 2013. Dr. Promislow's research on the evolution of aging has been or is funded by the National Institutes of Health, the American Federation for Aging Research, the National Science Foundation, and several private foundations. He has recently turned his attention to using high-throughput metabolomics to understand why aging differs among and within species.
