EWU Professor Honored
Published: May 11, 2011
CHENEY, Wash. - Eastern Washington University Professor Tom Trulove, who is also chair of the Economics Department and mayor of Cheney, has been awarded the Paul J. Raver Community Service Award from the Northwest Public Power Association (NWPPA).
The association covers Northern California, Oregon, Nevada, Washington, Idaho, Montana, Alaska, British Columbia and Alberta. This is one of the highest honors given by the NWPPA and the power industry. It is given to an individual who has worked toward the betterment of cities, states or regions.
Trulove previously served on the Northwest Power Planning Council (NPPC) for eight years, and has also served on numerous boards and commissions in the power industry. His passion for economic development led to his interest in hydroelectric power, which has had a major impact on the region's economy.
"Receiving the Raver Award, named after one of the earliest administrators of the Bonneville Power Administration and public power pioneers, is a completely unexpected and humbling experience," said Trulove. "Being selected to join the company of public service luminaries, who have been recognized with this award in the past, is indeed an indescribable honor for which I am most grateful."
Trulove will accept the Raver Award on May 25, in Reno, Nev., at the NWPPA annual meeting.
