Archeological work in Cyprus

No one will ever confuse Cheney, Wash., with the Mediterranean island of Cyprus. The two places are as different as they are far apart. Yet, if you want to know anything and everything about the ancient country, you need look no further than the rural, college town. Tucked into a small, brick office on the Eastern Washington University campus is Assistant Professor Bonnie Bazemore. She's the world's leading authority on Cypriot languages, and her presence makes EWU a universal center for the study of ancient Cyprus.

In this video, Dr. Bazemore, speaks of her archeological work in Cyprus, the 1,000-year-old city of Nicosia, the heart of Cyprus and the only remaining divided capital in the world.

For more information, read A Rare Find from Eastern magazine, winter 2008.

You can read more about what Dr. Bazemore is up to in the EWU Archaeology in Cyprus Blog.
