2009 Homecoming - "Wild, Wild Eastern"

Homecoming Week's grand finale was Saturday's football game when the EWU Eagles took on the Montana State Bobcats. In keeping with the western theme, the colors were presented on horseback by the Border Patrol. The game began with a fly-over by three spiraling bi-planes.

In 2009, new events were added to the game day lineup. A classic car show and a blow-up obstacle course added a new source of family-friendly entertainment. The winner of the car show was honored by being selected to drive in and deliver the game ball to the referees on the field.

Alumni groups, families and even a few pets participated in pre-game parties and tailgate decorating contests while listening to live country western music.

Football fans were excited about the halftime activities, which included former Eastern All-American and current Tennessee Titans All-Pro offensive tackle Michael Roos's No. 71 EWU jersey retirement.

Even potential students, currently in high school, were invited to explore the campus, learn about academic programs and to see EWU's Eagle spirit in action during Homecoming 2009. Attendance at the Homecoming football game went from 4,814 in 2008, to 6,632 in 2009.
