Honors ProgramHonors, at Eastern Washington University, seeks to cultivate excellence in undergraduate education by providing enhanced educational opportunities to superior students and special teaching opportunities to outstanding faculty.

The Honors Program at Eastern Washington University offers unique curriculum for freshmen, transfer students, and upper-division students.
Honors offers freshman a sequence of three interdisciplinary courses:
- HONS 101 The Ancient World (fall quarter) - satisfies 1 Humanities and 1 Social Science GECR
- HONS 102 The Middle Ages through the Reformation (winter quarter) - satisfies 1 Humanities and 1 Social Science GECR
- HONS 103 Modern Science and Society (spring quarter) - satisfies 1 Social Science and with HONS 104 Natural Science Lab counts as 1 Natural Science GECR
These courses are limited to 25 students per section and satisfy 6 of the General Education Core Requirements (GECR). Click here to learn more about the Freshman Honors Sequence at EWU.

Some cross-listed courses satisfy Cultural Diversity and International Studies requirements, and students should review the quarterly EagleNET listings carefully. For example,
HONS 450 Cultural Ecology - satisfies the International Studies requirement.
The Transfer Honors Program provides incoming transfer students with a renewable $3,500 scholarship and requires participation in one Fall Honors course, Hons 301-01, Classical Ethics & Rhetoric.
