Abstract: Proposed Preschool Program for Children with Autism

Children with disabilities have a right to specialized services to maximize their development and the likelihood for success in the future. Program for preschool children with autism should meet the goal of early intervention and incorporate "best practice." The purpose of this paper is to describe a preschool program for children with autism and their families based on effective practices in early childhood special education. The program will serve ten children, seven with autism and three who are typically developing. Staff, intervention practices, and outcome measures are described.
