Erik Jimenez is the first-born Mexican-American and the third child of five. Having been born and raised in Toppenish, WA, he grew up watching his parents working tough agricultural jobs to make ends meet. His parents immigrated to the US from Mexico in hopes of providing a better life for their children. Not having finished school both his parents knew the importance of obtaining a good education, thus their unconditional support to obtain a higher education.
The path to realize the dreams his parents had for him has not been an easy one, but the desire to be the first in his family to obtain a Ph.D. in educational psychology has proven to be greater than the challenges along the way. Currently, Erik is in the Applied Developmental Psychology program here at Eastern Washington University where he has had more quarters as a Deans List Award recipient than not. Upon graduation, Erik will pursue a doctorate in educational psychology to gain the knowledge and experience necessary to conduct research within the behavior modification field of psychology.
