Departmental Scholarships:  Many academic departments offer scholarship opportunities (a few links are provided below). Some utilize the EWU General Scholarships Application process and timeline and some require a separate application. Please contact your academic department for other possibilities.

Planning Scholarships

EWU High Demand Tuition Reduction:  To support the needs of today's business and industry, EWU, in partnership with the state of Washington, is offering funding to students in "high demand" academic programs.  Full time students with a 3.0 or high cumulative GPA in a qualifying major will automatically be considered for this competitive award each June for the following school year. There is no application. Eligible majors include: engineering/engineering technology, health and life sciences, secondary education (math, science, Spanish), computer science and mathematics majors. Associated Industries Bright Promise Program:  The Associated Industries Bright Promise Program recognizes students with a passion for learning and a bright future in one of four areas: Business, Technology, Manufacturing Technology and Health Sciences.  The program, which was created by Associated Industries and is co-funded in partnership with Moda Health Plan, Inc. (Moda Health) and Wells Fargo Insurance Services, provides half of one year's tuition at EWU.  2017-2018 applications will be available by March 1, 2017.

Avista Scholars Program: The mission of the Avista Utilities' Avista Scholars Program is to promote excellence in the fields of math, science, technology and engineering such that scholars become innovators, problem solvers and diverse talented employees of our future. The Avista Scholars Program will be used to provide scholarships to students who demonstrate exemplary academic achievement, innovation, community service, leadership, and project management experience in three fields of study: Electrical Engineering with Power Emphasis, Management Information Systems and Computer Information Systems.  These scholarships are available to college juniors and seniors, with a minimum of a 3.0 GPA, who demonstrate strong leadership ability both personally and professionally.  To be considered, complete the 2017-18 EWU General Scholarship Application by February 1, 2017.

Phi Theta Kappa: The Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) Scholarship is a competitive award available to PTK members transferring directly from their community college to EWU with no gap in enrollment.  Seven annual awards are available on a competitive application basis.  To compete for this award, complete the 2017-18 EWU General Scholarship Application by February 1, 2017

US Army ROTC Scholarships:  The ROTC program offers several scholarships: four-year, three and two-year scholarships for eligible students. Every scholarship provides full tuition and fees along with funding for books, supplies and equipment. Scholarship winners also receive a tax free monthly stipend. To qualify, students must have a 19 ACT score or 1050 SAT total score and a 2.5 or higher GPA. To find out more, visit Military Science or call 509.359.2386.

Athletic Scholarships:  Eastern is a NCAA Division I university and member of the Big Sky Athletic Conference. Students interested in an athletic based scholarship must have taken an SAT or ACT test and registered with the NCAA Eligibility Center meeting all standards for initial eligibility. Contact the coach for interest in one of the following sports: men’s football; women’s volleyball; men’s and women’s track, field and cross country; men’s and women’s basketball; women’s soccer; men’s and women’s tennis; and women’s golf.
