University Honors Program and Scholarship: The Honors Program at Eastern Washington University cultivates excellence in undergraduate education by providing enhanced educational opportunities to superior students and special teaching opportunities for outstanding faculty. New freshmen and transfer students are eligible for the Honors Program and multi-year Honors Scholarships. which range in annual value from $3,500 up to full resident, undergraduate tuition. Freshman applicants should have a minimum 3.60 cumulative high school GPA and superior SAT reading and math scores. Transfer applicants should have a complete AA degree and minimum 3.70 cumulative GPA. To find out more, visit University Honors or call 509.359.2822.
Presidential Scholarship: New freshmen entering EWU Fall 2016 may automatically qualify for the four-year, $3,000 per year Presidential Scholarship. There is no application. Washington resident students who apply for admission to EWU by Feb. 15, 2016 will be considered. To qualify, students must have a 3.80 or higher high school GPA or a 1250 or higher SAT sum of reading and math scores (or comparable ACT of 28 or higher). To renew each school year, recipients must maintain a minimum 3.50 cumulative EWU GPA. NOTE: Per the College Board, SAT scoring has changed beginning with the Class of 2017. Presidential eligibility for the 2017-18 school year will be based on a 3.80 or higher high school GPA or 1310 or higher SAT math/verbal (28 ACT).
Dean's Scholarship: New freshmen entering EWU Fall 2016 may apply for the four-year, $2,000 per year Dean's Scholarship. To be considered, complete the 2016-17 EWU Scholarship Application by February 15, 2016. To compete for the award students must have a 3.50 or higher cumulative high school GPA and a 1000 or higher SAT sum of reading and math scores (or comparable ACT of 21 or higher). To renew each school year, recipients must maintain a minimum 3.50 cumulative EWU GPA. NOTE: Per the College Board, SAT scoring has changed beginning with the Class of 2017. Dean's consideration for the 2017-18 school year will be based on a 3.50 or higher high school GPA and a 1080 or higher SAT math/verbal (21 ACT).
EWU Special Honors Scholarship - National Merit Finalists or Semi-Finalists: Students named National Merit Finalists (or semi-finalists) and who enter Eastern as a beginning freshman fall quarter 2016 may be eligible for a four-year, $3,000 EWU Scholarship. For consideration, submit verification of your National Merit Scholar status to the Financial Aid and Scholarship Office.
Eastern Advantage Scholarship: Eastern Advantage is a personal academic support program that provides first generation college students with the tools and resources necessary to succeed in achieving their goal of attaining a college degree. Up to 250 Eastern Advantage Scholarships worth $1,500 each are open to freshmen who are a 1) 2016 high school graduate, 2) first generation college student (neither parent holds a four year degree), 3) Washington resident, and 4) U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen. All new freshmen meeting the aforementioned criteria will automatically be considered for an award. To find out more, visit the Eastern Advantage Program or call them at 509.359.2487.
EWU First Scholars: In partnership with Project S.T.E.a.M., EWU offers 5, $2,000 two-year scholarships to students who 1) participated in a FIRST Tech Challenge, a FIRST Robotics Competition or Project Lead the Way during high school, 2) enter Eastern as a beginning freshman fall quarter 2016, AND 3) plan to pursue a degree in engineering, technology, mathematics or computer science at the Cheney/Riverpoint campus. For consideration, submit verification of FIRST or Project Lead the Way participation to the Financial Aid and Scholarship Office by August 30.
Running Start Scholars: To support our former EWU Running Start participants, EWU offers 30, $1,500 scholarships to students choosing to attend EWU immediately following their high school/running start studies. Recipients must have completed at least 30 EWU running start credits with a 3.3 or higher cumulative GPA by Fall 2016 for 2016-2017 award consideration. To apply, complete the 2016-2017 General EWU Scholarship Application by February 15, 2016.
