Journalists are in the unique position of interpreting the political, social, economic, cultural and everyday events that affect all members of society, influencing the choices we each make.

The Journalism Program's two full-time faculty members have more than 35 years of professional journalism experience between them. Professor Bill Stimson was a reporter for the Spokane Chronicle, United Press International and Reuters and was editor of Spokane Magazine and Universe Magazine. His articles have been published in the Los Angeles Times, Newsweek and other magazines and newspapers, and he is the author of several books. Program Director and professor Steve Blewett was a reporter and editor for the Spokesman-Review, worked in public relations for 15 years, is publisher of The Media Guide, and also has authored two books. In addition, news professionals are regular instructors in the program.
