She has a joint appointment, and her time is therefore split equally between Philosophy and Women's & Gender Studies. She was promoted to full professor in 2011. Her first book, Feminism is Queer: The Intimate Connection between Queer and Feminist Theory (Zed Books, 2010) received a Choice Outstanding Academic Title award. The second edition of this book is scheduled for publication in 2016. Marinucci is also the editor of Jane Austen and Philosophy, which is forthcoming in the Great Authors and Philosophy series (Rowman and Littlefield, 2016). She has been awarded with the EWU President's Award and Professor of the Year award (2011), she was  a U.S. Professors of the Year nominee (2012), and she was awarded the Best of the West Plains EWU Teacher of the Year (2012). Her teaching and research are focused on feminism, philosophy, and feminist philosophy, particularly as represented in popular culture. She is especially interested in popular culture as a medium for the production and dissemination of knowledge about who we are as women and men. In addition to publishing numerous articles in various journals and books, Marinucci also founded and self published several issues of "Wave 2.5: A Feminist Zine," a two-time Utne Independent Press Award nominee (2005, 2009).
