Is EWU on the quarter or semester system?

Is the MBA at EWU accredited?

Yes, both the graduate and undergraduate business programs are accredited by AACSB International (the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business).

Where is the MBA program taught?

The MBA program is housed in Eastern Washington University's College of Business and Public Administration, which is headquartered in the Riverpoint Campus in downtown Spokane. Located in the heart of the university district, classes are easily accessible to business professionals or undergraduate students continuing their education. The facility offers state-of-the-art classrooms including a 200-seat auditorium. Plenty of parking is available. Buses also serve the campus.

How many total credits is the MBA Program?

48 Credits - Students may attend either full-time (10+ credits) or part-time.

Is my MBA tuition tax deductible?

The short answer is maybe. Do you meet one of the following criteria; 1. The education is required by your employer or the law to keep your present salary, status, or job. The required education must serve a bona fide business purpose to your employer. 2. The education maintains or improves skills needed in your present work. Is it possible to complete the MBA program in one year?

Depending on the quarter in which a student starts, the program generally can be sequenced such that completion in one year is possible if student attends full-time. Entering fall or spring quarters is ideal for this approach. Most EWU MBA students are working professionals and attend on a part-time basis.

How do I apply for the MBA?

You must fill out a graduate application which can be found at EWU's Grad page. The Graduate Studies Office will also need two official copies (sealed) of all your transcripts and the $50 application fee. You must also submit the $50 MBA fee. (Total $100 in fees) Please read the Application Process.

How do I know whether or not I have to take the Foundation coursework?

If your undergraduate degree is not in business, it is likely you will have to take or challenge some or all of the 32 credits of foundation courses. Contact the MBA director for an appointment to assess your background and determine which courses are necessary.

If I am an international student, can I take the MBA Foundation courses through the English Language Institute?

Yes, the ELI has a special program for international students wishing to go into the MBA. You can get information by going to .

If I am an international student must I take the TOEFL exam?

International students must demonstrate English language competency by taking the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) test. A minimum TOEFL score of 92 Internet-based Test (iBT) or 580 paper-based TOEFL or a 7.0 IELST is required to be considered for MBA program admission. Note: Admission to the MBA foundation course work requires a TOEFL of at least 71iBT or 525 paper-based TOEFL or IELST of 6.0. Qualified students may enter EWU through our English Language Institute without a TOEFL or IELTS exam. The ELI offers a MBA Preparation program which includes MBA Foundation courses with English language support.

What GMAT or GRE score do I need?

All students need at least a 450 GMAT or equivalent GRE score.  More information on the GMAT can be found at or the for GRE at

What GPA do I need?

We require a 3.0 cumulative GPA for your last 90 quarter graded credits or 60 semester credits.

What are the application deadlines?

Deadlines for international students are six (6) months prior to the quarter in which you wish to begin. There are no deadlines for domestic students.
