Graduate Admissions Requirement

The application process in detail for the Master of Science degree.graduate school application; master of science application

Students who would like to be considered for admission into the Communication Disorders graduate program must meet the admissions requirements of both the Office of Graduate Studies and the program.

The Communication Disorders department at Eastern Washington University will participate in the Communication Sciences and Disorders Centralized Application Service, known as CSDCAS, beginning September 2014. Applicants applying to graduate programs in Speech-Language Pathology for 2015 entering class will apply online using the CSDCAS application. To learn more about the CSDCAS application process, visit

A baccalaureate degree from an appropriately-accredited college or university is required. Eligibility for graduate admission is determined by evidence of scholarly ability, as indicated by a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.00 in the last 90 quarter-hour or 60 semester-hour credits.

Prospective applicants: Last year (2014) we received approximately 176 applications to our graduate program. Forty (40) were offered admission and 25 enrolled in classes for Fall Semester 2014. The average grade point average (GPA) for these acceptances was 3.89. The average analytical writing score for the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) was 4.5; the average quantitative was 152 and verbal 154.

Admissions Requirements of the Communication Disorders Program

In addition to the CSDCAS application form, selected applicants will participate in an interview. Details will shared at a later date.

Although the Office of Graduate Studies does not specify a cut-off score for the GRE, the Communication Disorders graduate program strongly recommends that the student earn a combined score of approximately 300 points. In addition, the student should earn a score of 4 or higher on the Analytical Writing section of the GRE.

For further information regarding admission to the Communication Disorders graduate program, prospective applicants are encouraged to contact the Graduate Program Advisor, Robbie Jackson, at 509.828.1326 or by email at:
