Legal Issues on Internships

The office of Career Services understands your need for an internship.  It is with this consideration that it is important for you to know the legal aspect of securing an internship.

In our recent financial challenges, many of the companies have been trying find ways to conserve spending.  One of the ways this has been done is through the consolidation of services.  Some staff may have experiences partial employment or layoffs due to this process.  As these companies continue to hire and train interns, we do our best to make sure that interns are not being overworked and are given tasks that are within their internship parameters. The goal is to enrich learning for the student, and sometimes the excitement of the internship experiences can make it difficult for a student to enforce these issues, so it is better that you are aware beforehand.   There are certain aspects of this process that must be kept into account in order to prevent any legal ramifications.
