The Daniel and Margaret Carper Foundation Scholarship

The Daniel and Margaret Carper Foundation Scholarship is a one-year, $18,500 scholarship (tuition/fees/expenses) available to senior undergraduate students studying Social & Behavioral Sciences and Social Work at Eastern Washington University during the 2015-2016 academic year. The CSBSSW Scholarship Committee will select the student recipient from a screened list of applicants provided by the EWU scholarship office.

This scholarship will be awarded to a student who has expressed the intention of going on to graduate school, preferably to the Ph.D. level. The scholarship is intended to facilitate students majoring in the social and behavioral sciences who expect to expand their graduate school research into the natural and/or physical sciences. Preference will be given to applicants whose social science studies concentrate in a field generally related to socio-biology, or the study of the biological and chemical underpinnings of human behavior. The student receiving this scholarship is expected to advise Daniel and Margaret Carper of their efforts toward graduate school admission, as well as their success during at least their first year of their graduate program and hopefully far beyond.

Students applying for the scholarship must meet the following criteria:
1. Student must be attending EWU full-time, and must have completed 135 credits of university course work by the start of fall quarter 2015.
2. Student must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher.
3. Student must have a declared major in the College of Social & Behavioral Sciences and Social Work which includes majors in the following disciplines: Anthropology, Children's Studies, Communication Studies, Geography, Government, History, Interdisciplinary Studies, International Affairs, Military Science, Psychology, Race and Culture Studies, Women's & Gender Studies, Social Work, Sociology and Justice Studies (Criminal Justice)
4. Student must have demonstrated financial need.
5. Preference shall be given to previous Carper scholarship recipients if they meet all other selection criteria and are undergraduates at EWU.

The Carper Foundation College of Social & Behavior Sciences and Social Work Scholarship

The Daniel and Margaret Carper Foundation Scholarship is a one-year, $9,500 scholarship available to an undergraduate student studying in one of the eligible disciplines within the College of Social & Behavioral Sciences and Social Work at Eastern Washington University during the 2015-2016 academic year. The CSBSSW Scholarship Committee will select the student recipient from a screened list of applicants provided by the EWU scholarship office. 

Students applying for the scholarship must meet the following criteria: 

1. Student must be attending EWU full-time, and must have completed 60 credits of university course work.

2. Student must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.00 or higher. 

3. Student must have a declared major in one of the following disciplines within the College of Social & Behavioral Sciences and Social Work: Anthropology, Children's Studies, Communication Studies, Geography, Government, History, Interdisciplinary Studies, International Affairs, Military Science, Psychology, Race & Culture Studies, Social Work, Sociology and Justice Studies, and Women's & Gender Studies. 

4. Student must have demonstrated financial need. 

5. Preference shall be given to previous Carper scholarship recipients if they meet all other selection criteria and are undergraduates at EWU.

6. No student will receive the award more than four years total.

The Carper Foundation Orcas Island Public School Seniors & Graduates Scholarship

The Daniel and Margaret Carper Foundation Scholarship is a one-year, $9,500 scholarship available to undergraduate students attending Eastern Washington University during the 2015-2016 academic year. Students applying for the scholarship must meet the following criteria:

1.     Student must have a cumulative grade point average of 2.80 or higher from Orcas Island Public School system.

2.     Student must be attending full-time at Eastern Washington University during the 2015- 2016 academic year.

3.     Student must have demonstrated financial need.

4.     Preference shall be given to previous Carper Scholarship recipients if they meet all other selection criteria and are undergraduates at EWU.
