In my younger days, I spent a decade as a wilderness trip leader with youth-at-risk, rock climbing instructor and whitewater raft guide. After finishing my B.A. in Outdoor Recreation and a M.Ed. in Adult Education, I took over the helm at EPIC Adventures. I am a rock climbing instructor with the Professional Climbing Instructors Association (PCIA) and a wilderness medicine instructor with Wilderness Medicine Training Center (WMTC).

Before finding my way to EPIC Adventures, I spent fifteen years pursuing the dream life of seasonal outdoor guide. I was fortunate enough to work professionally as a guide for Class V whitewater rafting, mountain biking, and caving. Aside from guiding, I also worked as a field instructor for backpacking trips with at-risk youth. These pursuits eventually led me to EPIC where I can share these experiences with EWU students. I am a Whitewater Rescue Technician, an EMT, and a wilderness medicine instructor with Wilderness Medicine Training Center. When I'm not at work, I enjoy the peace and quiet of gardening and playing with my dogs.

I received my first paycheck working in recreation in 1994 and have been doing so since then. Over the past 18 years I have spent most of my time snowboarding, skiing, kayaking, and rafting. I love to teach in the outdoors and usually end up doing so. I have many of titles and certifications in snowboarding through AASI, but now I spend most of my snowboarding efforts on The Grind here at EWU and teaching my children to love the slopes. I am also an ACA certified Whitewater Kayak Instructor and Rescue 3 Water Rescue Instructor, and have a few other outdoor certifications. My educational focus has been in Recreation, Leadership, and Education, and I have degrees in Outdoor Recreation and Organizational Leadership, and am currently working on a Ph.D.
