Gary Fincke directs the Writers Institute at Susquehanna University in central Pennsylvania. His Lynx House book, The Days of Uncertain Health, was his first full-length collection, and he has since published nine others, including Writing Letters for the Blind, which won the Ohio State University Press/The Journal Poetry Prize in 2003. His fourth collection of stories, Sorry I Worried You, won the Flannery O’Connor Prize and was published by the University of Georgia Press in 2004. Amp’d, his nonfiction account of his son’s life as lead guitarist in the popular rock band Breaking Benjamin, was published by Michigan State University Press. His most recent collection of poems is The Fire Landscape (2008) from the University of Arkansas Press. His next book will be a memoir, The Canals of Mars, also from Michigan State.
