EWU Press now sponsors the Blue Lynx Prize for Poetry (formerly the Spokane Prize for Poetry). Winner will receive publication plus a $1500 cash prize. Finalists will each receive $50 worth of EWU Press books.To be considered for the prize, send a book-length manuscript (no less than 48 pages) of poems, an SASE for notification, and a $25 dollar reading fee made out to "EWU Press". We accept submissions between March 1st and May 15th. Submissions should be postmarked no later than May 15, 2008.
 
Here's a Checklist for prize submission:
  • a book-length manuscript (no less than 48 pages) of poems, with no more than one poem per page
  • an SASE for notification
  • a printed and completed submission form, available for download as a PDF or Word Document: PDF version or Word Version
  • a $25 dollar reading fee made out to “EWU Press” (check or money order only) for each manuscript entry
 
Eastern Washington University Press has published literary works by John Keeble, Edith Pearlman, Carolyn Kizer, Philip Dacey, Paula Meehan, Christopher Howell, Diana O'Hehir, Thomas Reiter, Gabriela Mistral, Richard Robbins, Elizabeth Cook-Lynn, Patrick McManus, Robin Seyfried, Patrick Todd, Sarah Conover, Josefina de la Torre, Perry Higman, Rick Alley, Susan Mayse, D.C. Berry, Brooke Horvath and a number of other writers.

All United States authors, regardless of publication history, are eligible. Manuscripts must contain page numbers and a table of contents. There is no maximum page count and poems may have been previously published in journals, anthologies, or limited edition volumes. "Selected Poems"* collections will not be considered.
* "Selected Poems" refers to poems previously published in books.
 
The winning manuscript will be published by Eastern Washington University Press. Failure to follow guidelines will result in disqualification. No manuscripts or fees will be returned. Please do not send cash.
