Two Women, Two Viewpoints, One Victory
12:00-1:00 p.m., 207 Monroe
On Nov. 8, 1910, women won the right to vote in Washington state, thanks to the efforts of two dynamic women -- Tacoma's Emma Smith DeVoe and Spokane's May Arkwright Hutton. History comes to life in Sandra Hosking's new interactive stage play that explores the tumultuous relationship between DeVoe (Penny Lucas) and Hutton (Claire Rudolf Murphy) and how they overcame differing strategies, economic standing and temperaments to work together for suffrage and women's equality.
