WORD PROCESSING OPERATOR II
BASIC FUNCTION
Operate word processing equipment in a word processing unit; review job requests and system capabilities with person initiating requests; suggest revision in treatment of material; develop new techniques/methods for treatment of data.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
Under general direction, use word processing equipment and systems to perform complex word processing assignments such as producing material and establishing and maintaining data bases, uploading/downloading and producing graphs, outlines and tables.
TYPICAL WORK
Input, revise, print and proofread materials such as manuscripts, correspondence, labels, reports, fiscal/statistical information, tables and other documents from rough drafts or machine dictation;
Review job requests and systems' capabilities with persons initiating job requests; suggest revisions in treatment of data;
Develop new techniques/methods in treatment of data; determine most suitable methods for completion of projects;
Research and develop new applications for word processing systems;
May assess equipment needs and operating systems and confer with vendors and users to recommend necessary improvements/modifications to existing equipment;
Perform the duties of Word Processing Operator I;
May direct the work of others;
Perform related duties as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Six months of word processing experience
equivalent education/experience.
