Change in Fine Policy
Published: January 22, 2015
Happy New Year! EWU Libraries Alleviating Daily Fines on Most Materials!
Starting January 5, 2015, EWU Libraries will no longer charge daily overdue fines on most circulating materials borrowed by EWU patrons, including Summit and ILL loans. That's great news for students and others who just simply forget to bring back a book when it is due.
Please bring your materials back promptly anyway! We want others to be able to use them, too. And be aware: You run the risk of being charged a hefty replacement fee and service charge if you wait too long to return your materials.
We're changing how long you can keep materials, too. Students can now check items out for six weeks (with no renewal).
Although we are no longer charging daily overdue fees on most materials, there are exceptions. You will still be charged a daily late fee for high-demand materials such as reserve materials, periodicals, equipment and recalled materials.
The new policy, effective Jan 1, 2015, is posted online at: http://www.ewu.edu/library/services/borrowing-and-circulation/circulation-policy. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Circulation at (509) 359-7888.
