What services are available at the Lower Level Service Desk?

Who may borrow equipment?
Currently enrolled students who have paid the quarter's technology fee may check out Student Technology Fee-owned equipment. Other equipment not purchased with STF-funds, such as webcams and slide projectors, may be checked out by EWU students, faculty and staff.
What types of equipment are available for checkout?
See Equipment Checkout for a listing of equipment types.
How long may I keep borrowered equipment?
Laptops: 1 day or 3 days
All other equipment: 3 days
Borrowed equipment is due by library closing time on the day due.
May I renew borrowed equipment?
No, the equipment is not renewable. The STF-owned equipment is intended for occasional use by a student in order for as many other students as possible to have access to it.
Is there a limit to what I can borrow?
A person may have one of each type of equipment checked out at a time, for example, one laptop and one camera and one projector.
May I take borrowed equipment out of the Library?
Yes, borrowed equipment may be removed from the library.
Am I responsible for loss, theft, or damage to the equipment?
Yes. Please see the Equipment and Circulation Policies. Returned equipment is condition-checked before it is removed from the borrower's library record.
Are there late charges for equipment returned beyond the due date?
Yes, late charges are $20.00 per day for each piece of equipment returned after library closing time on the day due. Additional charges and sanctions apply if the equipment is not returned within 7 days of the due date, including the full replacement amount. Can I print from the laptops?
The laptops will print from the Pharos print stations, which are activated by your EWU ID card. The print jobs can be accessed on any print station for up to 2 hours after they are sent.
Can I save things to the hard disk on the laptops?
We recommend that you save files to NetStorage or to a personal data storage device. Any files left on the hard drive may be viewed by others.
Where can I edit the video I shoot?
Editing equipment is available in the Mulitmedia Center, located in the Learning Commons area, JFK Library.
