Developing Winning Proposals

This training session is designed to provide participants with extensive instruction on grant writing and an overview of the administration of grants. This session will examine various grant programs for tribal communities and the rules for writing them. We will explore federal, state, and private grant making resources and the strategies needed to develop proposals. Participants will receive instruction on the principles of grant management, modifications, monitoring, reporting/audits and evaluation. Participants will learn how to develop major sections of the grant process and gain an understanding how each of them will be reviewed.   All attendees will receive a comprehensive training manual and a certificate of achievement.

  • Overview of Grant Types
  • Using a Fund Accounting System to Track Grants
  • Developing Grant Concepts
  • Spending, Suspension or Termination of Funding
  • Grant Proposals and Method of Submission
  • Reporting to the Grantor
  • Grant Narrative, Elements and Practices
  • Trends in Grant Making
  • Grant Budget, Principles and Practices
