Welcome to the Northwest TTAP training site.  The Northwest TTAP provides several unique venues for training.  These include classroom style, webinars, directed self-pace training, online distance learning, workshops, the EWU Annual Summer Institute in Tribal Planning and the Northwest Region TTAP & BIA symposium.  The Northwest TTAP also has access to other training through other TTAP centers and our partners with FHWA, BIA, FTA and the state DOT's.

Tribal Planning Basics November 2016 January 2017 This training consists of 4 recorded lectures of 1.5 hours each.  You will have 8 weeks in which to complete the training.

Census and Population Data for Transportation Planning

This training consist of eight recorded lectures, for a total of 12 hours on census and related data bases, and how data can be downloaded and applied to tribal transportation planning.
Tribal Planning Basics TBD TBD The practice of American Indian tribal planning is based on three foundations: 1) the principle of tribal sovereignty including inherent sovereignty, understood through a combination of the evolution of tribal legislation and tribal court cases that create the power to plan; 2) the application of comprehensive planning processes to the unique setting of individual tribal specific governments; and 3) the evolution and implementation of tribal planning by tribal governments in recent times-the practice of tribal planning.


FHWA Tribal Planning Training Modules

The FHWA Tribal Transportation Planning Module Training Series provides modules for eight planning topics, designed to assist transportation professionals responsible for planning for the capital, operating, and maintenance needs on Tribal lands.
