As a non-traditional student, it can sometimes feel hard to connect with campus life. Current non-traditional students at EWU created this resource guide to help you find the groups and people that make the transition into college life simpler, friendlier and less stressful.
EWU's Career Services staff is dedicated to helping students and alumni with all aspects of their career development. Practice interviewing skills, get advice on your cover letter and resume, find internships and volunteer opportunities, or simply sit down with an expert to talk about your options. Services are free to EWU students and alumni.
The EWU Children's Center is a state-licensed facility designed to provide flexible hourly or back-up care for the children of EWU students.
The EWU Comprehensive Health and Wellness Program offers an inclusive approach to the physical and psychological well-being of EWU students. The program can help you find local clinics as well as healthcare and insurance programs.
EWU Parking Services helps you purchase parking passes, avoid parking tickets and more.
Disability Support Services
If you have a disability or think you may have a disability, contact the Office of Disability Support Services. They're dedicated to the coordination of appropriate and reasonable accommodations for students with disabilities that are based upon individual needs.
Counseling and Psychological Services
The EWU Counseling and Psychological Services offers you individual counseling sessions and other programs to help students explore their concerns with a therapist. These services are free for students.
Veterans Resource Center
The Veterans Resource Center provides free services and support for EWU's student veterans, active-duty, National Guard and Reserve military personnel, their spouses and dependents. It's the largest veterans resource center in the Pacific Northwest.
Housing for Families
EWU Apartments provide an ideal blend of college and family life and are close to campus, public schools, public transportation and downtown Cheney. You can also visit EWU Housing and Residential Life if you're looking for a residence hall experience. Several halls are focus non-traditional and transfer students.
The new EWU Transfer Center partners with the Undergraduate Admission Office to help students plan their transfer and make the most of credits they've earned before coming to EWU. You can contact the Transfer Center at 509.359.2071.
The EWU Pride Center is dedicated to providing a safe and accepting environment for all students, staff and faculty at EWU, regardless of gender identity or sexual orientation. The Pride Center and GLBTQA community has experienced exceptional growth in recent years.
University Recreation Center
The EWU University Recreation Center provides a variety of life and community health and wellness activities, and you only need your student ID to access most facilities.
Student Government: ASEWU
Associated Students of Eastern Washington University acts as a resource for student activism, provides students with leadership opportunities, and represents the students with an informed, unified student voice. Non-traditional students are encouraged seek leadership roles in ASEWU.
Student Rights and Responsibilities
Make sure you visit the Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities to understand the policies that keep EWU safe and to disocver what you can do if you feel your rights are being violated. Due to the efforts of the entire campus community, EWU was recently ranked the safest public university campus in the state.
The EWU Writers' Center helps EWU students with any type of writing at any stage of the writing process. The people who work in the center have advanced degrees in many disciplines, and even though they won't write your paper for you, they'll help you develop your writing skills and get your ideas onto paper.
EWU's PLUS Program provides various types of tutoring to serve the needs of diverse student learners. All the tutoring services are free to EWU students, but many are only available first come, first served.
The EWU Libraries offers you more than print and digital books. It's also home to tutoring, librarians who can help you with your research, and technology and support centers that let you check out equipment, print posters for class and more.
