This may look like freshman admissions instructions, but it's really the start of your EWU college experience in Cheney, Spokane and Washington.
304 Sutton Hall
Cheney, WA 99004
You have tons of questions. Here are the ones students ask most often.
Can I still apply for the fall quarter after the Feb. 15 priority deadline?
Yes! You can apply for admission until Eastern closes the application window in the summer.
What EWU school code should I enter when I complete my ACT, SAT or FAFSA?
EWU's SAT school code: 4301
EWU's ACT school code: 4454
EWU's FAFSA school code: 003775
Should I apply to more than one school?
This is a personal decision, but a good strategy can be to apply to your top three to five schools by their priority deadlines. A lot can change in a year, especially your career plan and financial situation, and it's always a good strategy to have a backup strategy in case you need a school that offers a particular major or a different overall tuition cost.
How many classes/credits should I take to be considered a full time student?
At EWU, you should take 12-18 credits per quarter to be considered a full-time student. This will typically mean three to four classes per quarter. Freshmen at EWU average 15 credits per quarter.
Do you consider AP, IB or honors classes in your admissions decisions?
That depends. If you have a high school GPA of 3.3 or above and have met your CADR requirements, we generally don't consider AP, IB or honors classes in our admissions decision. If you don't have a 3.3 GPA or you don't meet CADR requirements, your schedule and grade trends are considered in the admissions decision. Completing difficult courses is seen as a positive factor in admissions decisions.
Are there additional requirements for student athletes?
Student athletes have no additional admissions requirements, but you must be eligible to participate in NCAA athletics and must meet the NCAA Clearinghouse requirements. Your athletic program at EWU is responsible for making sure you meet NCAA requirements.
How do I get international academic credentials evaluated?
If you are a domestic student with international academic credentials (coursework from a non-English speaking country), you will need to have your credits translated and evaluated by one of the institutions approved by the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services. Don't send your info to EWU before it's evaluated by one of the independent credit evaluation services. Once the credentials are evaluated, please send us the evaluation for review.
How long does it take to review my application for admission?
After we recieve all of your application materials including the application fee, official high school transcripts and test scores, it will take approximately 14 days.
