Special Visits

We love showing our campus to student groups, and we can create a customized EWU experience for your group.

To coordinate a visit, please contact Whitney Meyer at 509.359.7898 or wmeyer@ewu.edu. Be sure to provide the following information.

  • Your group's name.
  • The number of students in your group.
  • The number of chaperones in your group.
  • The grade-level of the students in your group.
  • Your desired visit date.
  • Your desired start and end times for your visit.

Scheduling your Visit

To assure your visit is tailored to your needs, you'll want to plan well in advance.
  • Schedule your overnight visits four weeks in advance.
  • Schedule your day visits three weeks in advance.
  • Group tours are available Monday through Friday for students in the 7th grade and above.
  • Overnight visits are available Monday through Thursday for students in the 9th grade and above.

Groups of more than 100 students present special challenges and require much more advanced planning. In addition, exceptionally large groups have fewer options for all-group activities. We encourage you to visit with smaller groups to help assure a more personal and informative visit.

Your visit may include the following activities.

Campus Tour

Time: 60-90 minutes
Audience:
  All ages

Student guides provide walking tours of campus. As time allows, visitors will see the majority of the Cheney campus. The tour includes the library and University Recreation Center. Since current students live in the residential halls, we limit tours of residential halls to 60 visitors or less. The ratio of visitors to guides will depend on how many guides are available at that time.

Admissions Presentation

Time: 15-45 minutes
Audience:
All ages

Our general presentation includes the admissions process, how to apply for college, what students should do to prepare for college, and a question and answer session with an admissions representative.

On-campus Lunch

Time: 45-60 minutes
Audience:
  All ages

Cost: varies,  typically $7-$10 per student. We are happy to help coordinate meals through EWU Dining Services, who require a two-week notice to plan your group meal. If your group includes fewer than 60 students, we can coordinate meal cards for each student with a spending limit determined by you. For groups over 60, Dining Services can coordinate a catered meal for your group.

Student Panel

Time: 30 minutes
Audience:
All ages

Ask questions and get unscripted answers from 3-6 current EWU students.

University Recreation Center

Time: varies
Audience:
High School

Our University Recreation Center includes an ice rink and rock climbing wall. We are happy to coordinate use of these facilitates as available. It costs $6 per person to ice skate.

Overnight Visits

Time: One night, Monday night through Thursday night
Audience:
High School

We have the ability to host 28 high school students in Streeter Hall for up to one night at a cost of $10 per student plus any meal costs. During the EWU school year, this is our preferred number of visitors due to available beds. In summer other arrangements can be made for small or large groups. At least one chaperone must stay the night with the group. A four-week notice is required. Please contact us for further details and availability.
