Tradition
EWU was established in 1882 as the Benjamin P. Cheney Academy. Starting as a school for preparing teachers at one-room schoolhouses, Eastern now has over 10,000 students enrolled annually.
In 2007, Eastern was one of two universities nationwide with two student-athletes earning Academic All-America honors – men's basketball sophomore Rodney Stuckey and women's basketball senior Joanna Chadd.
Connections
Eastern offers outstanding mentoring, networking and internship opportunities with its 30,000 alumni residing in the Inland Northwest, and nearly 70,000 alumni worldwide.
Eastern is focused on expanding its presence at the Riverpoint Campus in Spokane, Wash. in order to provide the best access possible for individuals seeking high-demand careers in business, public administration and health care.
Opportunity
Fifty-five percent of Eastern's freshmen class are the first in their families to earn a college degree.
Eastern is unique among state regional comprehensive universities, offering a doctorate degree (physical therapy) and an electrical engineering degree.
