The Washington Association of School Social Workers (WASSW), which announced Schlotter's award, also recognized her as its 2016 School Social Worker of the Year.

According to the WASSW a colleague shared this about her, "Catheleen strengthens partnerships, brings a whole child view to the table, and advocates for crucial wrap around services for families. She is well respected amongst teachers, students, community members, families and administrators."

Schlotter was honored at the SSWAA national conference in San Diego, CA on March 24.
