Faculty Contract Ratified

CHENEY, Washington - Eastern Washington University and the United Faculty of Eastern (UFE) have reached agreement on a new three-year contract that improves faculty compensation and recognizes their outstanding work.

The agreement continues salary adjustments for fall 2016 to bring EWU faculty salaries to the average for their rank and discipline at peer institutions, based on 2014-15 data compiled from the College and University Professional Association for Human Resources (CUPA-HR). In addition, the agreement calls for 2 percent across the board increases each year of the contract.

EWU President Mary Cullinan joined UFE President Mike Conlin in congratulating the teams on a successful negotiation and complimented them on the spirit of problem-solving displayed at the table.

The contract has been ratified by the union and approved by the EWU Board of Trustees at its June 24 meeting. Full details of the new contract will be available on the UFE website ( and the EWU Labor Relations webpage ( The parties will continue to work together to implement the agreement.
