Interim President David May
Dr. David May is Eastern’s Interim President, appointed to a two year term by the Board of Trustees in August 2020. A scholar specializing in the relationship between politics and public law, particularly the intersection of politics and constitutional interpretation, Dr. May, professor of Political Science and International Affairs, joined the faculty at EWU in 1999. He has served as chair of the Department of Political Science, where he facilitated the EWU in the High School program as its faculty liaison and where he also directed the Center for Northwest Politics. Dr. May also has served as associate dean of the College of Social Sciences, vice provost for academic administration, and most recently as provost. As provost and vice president of Academic Affairs, Dr. May provided oversight of academic operations including 135 areas of study, more than 500 faculty members in six academic colleges, the JFK Library, Academic Policy and Planning, Distance Education, Advising and Retention, International Programs, Institutional Research, and Grants and Contracts.
