EWU Welcomes NCUR 2015!

  • This video is available at .

Welcome to Eastern Washington University! We are excited to host the 2015 National Conference on Undergraduate Research. Located in the northwestern portion of the United States, EWU's main campus is in Cheney, Washington. Founded in 1882, Eastern is home to more than 12,000 students. The small, safe environment of Cheney is just 16 miles from the larger city of Spokane. Spokane is about 350 miles east of Seattle. Most students are probably familiar with Seattle as home to Microsoft, Starbucks and Amazon.

The region has much to offer, and we are eager to share as much of it as possible during your short time here. Spokane has been labeled "near nature, near perfect." This is a beautiful region with lots of activities. From winter sports to live entertainment and museums, there's a lot going on. The region features 70+ lakes within driving distance. From the majestic Lake Coeur d'Alene to the many smaller lakes that dot the area, it's a vast, beautiful environment. Some of the unique activities that go on in Spokane are Hoopfest, which is the largest 3-on-3 street basketball tournament in the world. It brings over 250,000 players and fans to the downtown area on the last weekend in June every year. Spokane also hosts the Lilac City Bloomsday Race. This is a 12K foot race that brings over 50,000 runners from all over the world. This is a great environment for you to come and share your research and creative works, and prepare to take flight.
