Explore Chicanx History & Culture<\/h2>\n

A minor in Chicana\/o\/x Studies provides a deeper understanding of the histories, cultures, and experiences that have shaped and continue to influence the Chicanx community.<\/p>\n

Open to students from all backgrounds, the program encourages critical thinking about identity, culture, social justice, and civic engagement. It also helps you develop valuable skills in communication, leadership, collaboration, and analysis.<\/p>\n

To earn the minor, you will need to submit the minor declaration form and complete four classes. You can choose from electives that cover various topics, including literature, immigration, activism, media, education, and more.<\/p>\n

Mart\u00edn Garc\u00eda explores migration, voting rights, social justice, and Latin American politics in his research.<\/p>\n

As the author and co-author of books and peer-reviewed articles on topics ranging from the Nicaraguan Revolution to immigration and civic engagement, Garc\u00eda helps students connect historical and contemporary issues while developing the critical-thinking skills needed to become informed leaders and advocates.<\/p>\n
