What is BASSOONarama? A day for bassoon players from around the Intermountain West to get together and: 1. Learn more about the bassoon: music, reeds, mechanics, ensemble music. 2. Get "moral support" from the many regional players of the bassoon. 3. Play fun music for large bassoon ensemble.
Who is invited to participate in BASSOONarama?Anyone who plays or has played the bassoon, or those who appreciate and want to learn more about the bassoon. Participants will include middle and high school students, college students, amateurs, and professionals, as well as doublers on the bassoon. All skill levels are welcome!

Class Descriptions:
Small Ensembles: Meet together for 70 minutes: During this time you will read ensemble music for bassoons (possibly including contrabassoon), select a piece to rehearse, and if the coach and players are comfortable, the group will perform this piece at the 4:00 concert. Ensembles will be from 3-8 members in size.
Improvising on Bassoon: This is a class for advanced high school, college, and adult players. It will be helpful to have solid proficiency in scales and arpeggios, as well as some knowledge of harmonic progression. This would be an ideal class for doublers who perform with jazz ensembles, worship bands, and other live settings involving chord charts, taught by a performer who has much experience!
Modifying Reeds: You are correct: your reeds can both last longer, and play better. With basic knowledge and tools, you can help them to be better reeds, which can help you be a stronger player. Bring reeds with you, and any tools that you may already own. We will "trouble shoot" your reeds.
Developing Your Daily Routine: Javier Rodriguez. Students will learn the "how" of warming up.
