Admission Requirements/Preparation

To be admitted to MPAcc, applicants must:

  1. hold a four-year baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university
  2. have earned at least a 3.0 GPA in the last 90-credits of their undergraduate degree
  3. have earned a score of at least 450 in the GMAT or the GRE equivalent (see below for GMAT waiver requirements)*
  4. have earned at least 2.5 in all of the following Eastern Washington University courses (or the equivalent as assessed by the MPAcc program):

Important note: Prospects who have not earned at least a 3.0 in all of the aforementioned prerequisite courses should NOT apply until they have accomplished this.

Applicant qualifications are assessed through the quality of performance in prior academic programs, as well as general aptitude measured by the GMAT* or GRE*. Other factors in the decision making process include work experience and a statement of intent. Admissions will be considered only after all of the following documents have been received from applicants:

  1. the application for Graduate Program Admission;
  2. one copy of official transcripts for all collegiate work completed**
  3. official GMAT* score;
  4. $75 graduate application fee;
  5. statement of intent demonstrating level of knowledge and intellectual maturity appropriate to MPAcc;
  6. current resume; and

Other information may be required at the discretion of CBPA's Director of Graduate Programs that may include an admissions interview, letters of reference, and an essay demonstrating critical thinking skills.

* The GMAT/GRE requirement may be waived for applicants who have earned an undergraduate business degree (1) with a cumulative or last 90-credit GPA of at least a 3.5 from an AACSB-accredited business school or (2) with at least a 3.0 GPA from an AACSB-accredited business school and five or more years of professional work experience. Waivers are determined by CBPA's Director of Graduate Programs.

** Eastern alumni do not need to submit an EWU transcript.

For International students, additional MPAcc admissions requirements apply. International students must demonstrate English language competency with a minimum score of 92 TOEFL iBT, 580 paper-based TOEFL, or 7.0 IELTS.

MPAcc Prerequisite Skills
The MPAcc program requires that students have competency in terms of quantitative skills, computer skills, and written and oral communication skills. Students lacking these skills should acquire them before applying to the program. Courses in finite mathematics, computer literacy, and oral and written communications are necessary preparation for the MPAcc program, and courses in differential calculus are highly recommended.

MPAcc Program Admission Exception Policy
The MPAcc Program admission exception policy is an alternative admission process. The College of Business and Public Administration's Director of Graduate Programs will consider applications from students requesting an exception to the minimum admissions criteria of an application GPA of at least a 3.0 and GMAT score of at least a 450 (or GRE equivalent). To be considered for an exception, students must possess an index score (GPA x 200 + GMAT) of at least 1015 and submit both a letter of appeal and current resume. Letters of appeal should include why you want to earn an MPAcc, why you are capable of successfully completing the degree, and what the MPAcc Curriculum Committee should know about your qualifications. The College of Business and Public Administration's Director reviews applications throughout the year and consults with the MPAcc Curriculum Committee as necessary. Admission exceptions will be recommended by CBPA's Director of Graduate Programs.
