Our Mission

Addiction Studies fosters the concept of Transformative Learning following the basic tenet: you cannot change anyone but yourself. Addiction Studies strives to provide opportunities for students to become aware and critical of their own and others’ assumptions and to recognize frames of reference using their sociological imaginations to redefine problems from a different perspective. As we change the way we react and behave in our environments, others around us may also be transformed, thereby enhancing community consciousness.
