Master of Arts in History

George Santayana wrote, "Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it." History provides knowledge for unlocking all other realms of human development. The study of history provides a solid foundation not only for history and social studies education majors, but for careers in law, business, government, international relations, journalism, library services and museums, to name but a few.

Enjoy small classes led by renowned scholars from a variety of disciplines. Choose from one of three concentrations: general, academic, or public history.

Our graduates enjoy success after EWU. Recent MAs teach high school, study in doctoral programs, work in museums and archives, and direct social media for the United States Department of State.

What will I study?

A wide range of historical knowledge and skills as well as the most direct path to graduation. It is recommended for teachers and busy professionals.

Learn the skills needed for a career in archives, museums, and other history-related work outside the classroom.
