Amy Washington, Scholarship Recipient

Amy Washington, a computer science major sits in the computer lab.

Amy Washington earned an associate’s degree at community college, worked as a dental assistant for 10 years, then decided to expand her career options by enrolling in EWU’s Computer Science program and minoring in cybersecurity. As a junior, Amy carries a full course load, gains additional practical experience with a full-time internship at Aon in Spokane, and competes on Eastern’s winning cybersecurity team.

Amy’s ambition was rewarded when she earned the Steiner Family Scholarship and Soaring Eagle Scholarship. “Receiving scholarship support is not only financial but motivational,” Amy says. “To donors who support scholarships, I say, ‘Thank you.’ Not everyone takes the time to care about what a scholarship means to a student. Receiving scholarship support from people who believe in what you’re setting out to do is reaffirming. I’m so grateful.”
